Welcome to Excel Jet Consult blog post. In this tutorial, we will learn how to use the DAX iterator function called MAXX. Let’s get started
MAXX Function returns the largest numeric value or the largest string that result from evaluating an expression for each row in a table
MAXX Syntax: =MAXX(table, expression)
MINX Function returns the smallest numeric value or the smallest string that result from evaluating an expression for each row in a table
MINX Syntax: =MINX(table, expression)
In the caption below, we want to write a DAX measure that will return the Largest and the Smallest Total for each of the Account Manager:
MAXX DAX Function
In the Calculations group of the Modelling tab, click on New Measure.
In the formula bar, execute the DAX formula: Largest Total = MAXX(Data,Data[Total])
In the Report view: Click on Table visualization
Drag and drop Account Manager, Total, Largest Total into the Values axis respectively
From the above caption, we can see the largest total for each account manager
MINX DAX Function
In the Calculations group of the Modelling tab, click on New Measure.
In the formula bar, execute the DAX formula: Smallest Total = MINX(Data,Data[Total])
Drag and drop Smallest Total measure into the Values axis below Largest Total measure
From the above caption, we can see the smallest total for each account manager
