Welcome to Excel Jet Consult blog post. In this tutorial, we will learn how to use Power Query (Get & Transform) to concatenate and add suffix.

The data below will be used for this tutorial

The first thing we wants to do is to load the data into the Power Query Editor

  • To do that: Click anywhere inside the data
  • In the Get & Transform Data group of the Data tab, click on From Table/Range

  • In the General group of the Add Column tab Click on Custom Column
  • In the Custom Column dialogue box, provide Email as New Column Name and execute the formula in the Custom Column Formula: Text.Lower(Text.Start([FirstName],1)&”.”&[LastName]&”@exceljetconsult.com.ng”)

  • Click Ok.

We’ve been able to concatenate the FirstName & LastName and added suffix in Power Query
